Beverly Orezzoli’s career in child welfare at FamiliesFirst Network spans over two decades, beginning as an intern before transitioning into case management. From her early role working with families in out-of-home care to becoming an adoption supervisor and now a team manager for case management, Beverly has dedicated her career to advocating for children and families.
“Adoptions will always have a special place in my heart,” Beverly shares. “My father adopted me, so I understand the impact firsthand. I love knowing we can change generational cycles and create lasting change.”
Her journey has been deeply rooted in frontline work, and despite moving into leadership, she remains committed to the hands-on nature of case management. “Our frontline staff are the heart of what we do. I see my role as planting seeds—sometimes we don’t see the impact immediately, but years later, we witness growth.”
Challenges have been an inevitable part of the job, from difficult cases to systemic barriers, but Beverly has always leaned on her faith and the support of her organization. “FamiliesFirst Network has a culture of support. The leadership understands the secondary trauma we face and ensures we have what we need to keep going.”
Beverly’s leadership style is rooted in collaboration and mentorship. “I never ask my team to do something I wouldn’t do myself. If they’re working late, I’m right there with them. Leading by example is key.”
Throughout her career, Beverly has witnessed the resilience of children and families, which continues to fuel her passion for case management. She believes in the power of advocacy—not just for the families she serves but also for her team. “I strive to create a supportive environment where staff feel heard and empowered. The work we do is challenging, but having the right mentorship and collaboration makes all the difference.”
Her advice to newcomers is to give themselves grace: “It takes time to learn, and it’s okay to ask questions. We all come in wanting to save the world, but change happens in small victories. Our impact may not be immediate, but every effort matters.”
Looking ahead, Beverly hopes to earn her master’s degree and transition into a therapeutic role within the organization, continuing to support children with trauma histories. “Child welfare will always be my passion, whether through case management or therapeutic foster care.”
Beverly Orezzoli’s journey is a testament to dedication, resilience, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves a chance at a better future.
