Community members interested in becoming adoptive parents are invited to join FamiliesFirst Network for an Adoption Family Spring Fest.
This day of games, food and prizes will be held Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Liza Jackson Park, 338 Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton Beach. Activities will include face painting, karaoke, live music, and a DJ, as well as cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, hamburgers and hot dogs. Learn about the steps to become adoptive parents, connect with families who have gone through the adoption process, and find out about community resources available to support adoptive families.
As the trusted partner for adoptions in Northwest Florida, FamiliesFirst Network connects adoptive families with training and support throughout the entire process. Financial support is available. The need is especially great for teens, siblings and special needs children.
Adoptive families come from many different backgrounds. Both married and single adults may apply to adopt, including individuals of all ages. Prior parenting experience is not required. An adoptive family must have sufficient room in their home for an adopted child, but there are no restrictions on housing type, such as an apartment or single-family home.
